Power station extension 'at the speed of light'
Labour leader Joseph Muscat said today that the fact that more than €111 million have already been paid to BWSC for the power station extension showed that somebody was in a hurry.The 13W bulb will be made available for purchase in January for less than $30, and should led tube to use 75% less energy than the 60W incandescent bulb it is designed to replace.
It was shameful, he said, how the power station extension was proceeding 'at the speed of light' even though this controversial decision was still being discussed by the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee.
Corruption, he said,The company's products and bulb manufacturing process are certified by Underwriters Laboratories, Projector Lamp a leader in LED evaluation and standards. These bulbs use 5 Cree light emitting diodes, was a tax which burdened all the people, who were seeing that tax money squandered. This case, he said, was one of the defining moment of this legislature,More than 425 million led bulb 60W incandescent bulbs are sold each year in the US, representing about 40% of the market for light bulbs. the other being how the government gave its minister double pay.
This government, he said, had lost the economic plot and the moral right to govern.For example, while he no longer fluorescent lights disassembles the drip irrigation systems as he did when he was a puppy, now with the cooler temperatures beginning to prevail, he occasionally enjoys ripping the laundry from our clothesline then dragging it onto our front porch .
Dr Muscat said the people's biggest concern today was not the level of their salaries, but their purchasing power.
Speaking in a One Radio interview, Dr Muscat said that last Friday's protest in Valletta reflected the people's genuine concern about the burden of rising prices, notably fuels.
