Singapore Stocks-Up at midday led by rigbuilders, 3,200 cap eyed
Singapore shares rose 1.5 percent by the midday break on Monday, boosted by gains in rig builders and as investors expect the U.S. Federal Reserve to announce another round of quantitative easing this week.
The Straits Times Index (STI) .FTSTI was up 45.72 points at 3,188.34. Total market volume was 1.1 billion shares.
Singapore rig builders outperformed the broader market, as the investors expect Brazilian state oil firm Petrobras (PETR4.SA) to announce orders for new rigs soon, following the outcome of Brazil's general election, said Ng Kian Teck, an investment analyst at SIAS Research.
Keppel Corp (KPLM.SI), the world's largest rig-builder, rose 2.4 percent to S410.22 while its rival Sembcorp Marine (SCMN.SI) was up 2.6 percent at S$4.72.
